then leave the newly renamed "HomeBase" and then reenter it (there will be two different entrances at level 2, pick the shop entrance) and buy different guns/torp launchers. Torpedos miss 99% of the time regardless of assigning the right crew to it, and no one out there seems to sell them so it's kinda pointless to try that. I don't know what sort of special upgrades people are getting access to, but the only cannons I have access to are the ones you start with and a single upgrade.
